Any where to get them around here?
About now if you set an eel trap on Beesferry road in the little stream that runs behind the camp ground all the way to Beesferry road you will catch plenty of 5-6 inch eels.I did it for years when i striper fished at the lake.Found out it had eels when i set a minnow trap out and caught about 50 eels in it.

So a minnow trap will work just as well as an “eel” trap
Not sure they’d work as well as an eels trap, but eels will find their way into a minnow trap. I catch eels in my minnow trap in a little feeder creek at low tide. I don’t catch them all the time, but it’s not uncommon to have an eel or two in there (have caught ones 12"-15").
Alot of the eel traps you can buy are just a minnow trap with an extra section in the middle to make it about 12" longer. Eel pots are supposed to meet a mesh and size requirement. See DNR’s website for specifics.

There was a company catching the larger eels out of Rantowles creek and exporting them live to Japan for consumption. So,there should be a good supply of them there.
I can take anyone to the spot and show u where to drop the trap in.

I catch eels in my minnow trap in my little Folly creek when I use a leftover hamburger for bait.
