Thursday May 26

After getting skunked the last few times out around John’s and kiawah islands, I tried a new spot a bit further south. The wind was blowing pretty steady in the morning, and I almost didn’t even put in. Glad I did! Got greeted first by a family of about 8 or so dolphins that were destroying something in about 10" of water. It was really cool to watch them that shallow, especially when 8 at a time were basically out of the water. Watched that for a while, then started fishing some oyster points. I must of casted about a hundred times with nothing to show for it, so I got out and walked up on the oysters to check out the other side of the point. 1st cast, hook up, quick strong run, and then a break off. Next cast, 27" red. Next cast, 25" fish, then a fat 23, then another big breakoff. Ended up with a few more just over slot fish to round out the day. The neat thing was the school of reds was mixed in with a large school of BIG gar. At first I thought I was looking at a giant trout, until I saw the head, and then noticed about a hundred more schooled up on top of a shell bed. Not sure if that is what was breaking me off or not, but pretty cool to see these two schools of fish working together.

Ended up with 6 or seven reds and a few break-offs. All fish were caught on the first few hours of the incoming, and all on Z man electric Chicken jerk shadz.

I think I found a new spot for the IFA tourny!!!
