The Mt Pleasant fishing pier? Is that Pitt St bridge?

There are definitely some fish at the Mt. P pier. I fished for the first time there a few weeks ago for about 2.5 hours. Caught 2 black drum (one keeper at 18"), a trout, a small sheepshead (although I saw some bigguns, and a few puffers once I figured out where the fish are hiding.

Where were the fish hiding at? What type of bait did you use?

Sullivans Island behind Ft. Moultrie is a nice place to fish if you don’t want to do the piers. Couple rods & sand spikes, a lawn chair and some bait. Good living!

I’ve fished behind the fort before but it was in March. Are there flounder out there?

north end of folly beach(front beach between the groings) pompano, black drum whiting.

Go to kiawah or seabrook and play some golf, bring some rods. If you can’t afford the golf which i cant then just go hit some balls and fish the ponds. Plenty of big reds trapped in those ponds. If you don’t wanna do that drive or deal w/ the security of those islands then just use google earth or look for places that look like fish would be able to get in and out of the rivers tide wise. Mt P, JI, and the backside of west ash have plenty of brackish ponds that hold good fish. look for any deep to deepish creek that has ponds VERY close by in the neighborhoods. if you find a spillway then thats all you need. good luck, dont waste time w the piers, just my 2 cents

I’ve caught some out of the old pier pilings behind the fort. Get anything you hook out of there quick or the barnacles will cut the line.

Fiddlers and mud minnows are a good bait at the Mt. P pier. As for where the fish are hiding that is part of art of fishing…just remember, fish also like the shade on sunny day.
