I have a few questions for charter captains about making sure all license requirements are met and available when getting stopped by DNR or the Coast Guard.
First, I know the 6-Pack and the TWIC card expire after 5 years, but does your CPR and First Aid Certification need to be up to date? I think CPR and FA expire after 2 years, must this be renewed every 2 years for you Captain’s License to be valid or are these certification requirements only for when initially applying for the license? There is also a drug screening and physical required when initially getting the license, I am assuming these only need to be done again when renewing the license but please correct me if that is wrong.
Also, most importantly, what documentation does DNR or the Coast Guard ask for when getting stopped? Obviously you need your Captain’s License, charter license, fishing permits, and I am assuming TWIC card, but do you need anything else such as CPR/First Aid Certification or any other documentation?
Thanks.
