missing man on Russle

Any one heard any thing? Haven’t heard anything since sunday, They said he was a bait fisherman, last seen about 3 am sat morning, found his truck and tra at the ramp at Beergarden creek, found his cell phone and life jacket but no sign of his boat!

I am following it through bait contacts
There is no update so far. Really sad situation. Young man only 20 or 21 yrs old. Met him many times. I still pray something will come about that will be for the good but it’s not looking good at all. They have found lifejackets, ipilot remote, throwable, gas tank, and some other boat debris.

Talking to some bait guys it’s honestly very hard to believe something like this hasn’t happened before. Those bait boats are very dangerous. The skiffs arent as bad (they won’t sink to the bottom) but putting that much water in any vessel is always a risk.

Just pray!

I heard the boat was a 24’ alum. john! Where was the boy from? Is the search still on?

Yes it was a big seaark with a 600 gal tank. I don’t want to say where he was from on this site because that will link him to the baitshop he worked for and not sure if they would want that or not. I am sure that info is out there somewhere but it’s not coming from me.

To be honest I don’t know if the search is still on yet or not. I just can’t believe they haven’t found a boat with all the sonar technology we have these days.

Today, was another day of searching for Mitchell D. Gibson without any new results. If you or anyone you know was fishing at Richard B Russell and saw a green SeaArk boat with Sodium lights, fishing anywhere on that lake, please -please contact someone. If you witnessed a boat, even if you aren’t 100% sure going in or out of the area, please let us know the approximate details. As of 7pm last night, DNR officially ended the full day searches for our baby brother, and the youngest baby son of our parents. Starting today, they will continue to ride once each morning, once each evening in the event that something may change. If you or anyone you know may be around Richard B Russell lake, please keep a lookout for Mitchell Gibson. Mitchell was a fisherman by trade and was seen at the Calhoun Falls 7-11 around 9:20pm or so. He then put his boat in at Beer Creek Garden landing around 9:30pm. The next day (Sun) Mitchell never arrived back at the landing. His truck and trailer were still at the landing. He was spotted fishing during the night at the 72 bridge and tied to the guidelines at the dam. He sent a text around 10:30pm on Sat night saying he was catching bait near Manor Creek landing. On Sunday, his jacket with cellphone and life jackets were found between markers 14 and 16. Later on Sunday, a cast net and misc fishing items were found under 72 bridge. Over the past few days, that whole lake has been grid checked with sonar on multiple boats, multiple times. GA DNR brought in a bottom scanning sonar without any results. At this time, we still haven’t found Mitchell or the boat. The boat is a green 24ft SeaArk with a large white bait tank. Please pray and if you or someone you know may go on that lake or around that area, just please keep a lookout for Mitchell Gibson and the boat.

Agreed. If I can see the chain hanging off of a discarded cow gate in 30’ of water with my consumer-grade Humminbird, you’d think finding that vessel would be a piece of cake with that serious sonar they brought out.

Hope this story ends soon for the family’s sake. Preferably with a happy ending but it doesn’t sound good.

I know I won’t complain anymore about the price of bait!

Saw on the news last night they still haven’t found any thing on him or his boat! Unbelevable! to be 11 days and no news! Pray for the family.

I was curious about this.

-What’s the best eating fish, you ask? I’ve found that for a lot people, its the ones that they happen to be able to catch, clean, and cook. - My Dad
