BIG Tailer OTF

Was able to get out during the flood tides last week. After having a few EP crabs denied, I switched to this shrimp pattern I have been tying… didn’t even have a weed guard. As soon as it hit the water this fish ate it.

Went out after school today for a quick trip. This fish was just chilling on an oyster bar and I paddled right by him. Saw the blue tail out of the corner of my eye, pinned the kayak with the shallow water anchor 5 yds. away, put it right in front of him, and then watched him eat it. Pretty cool to see. Same fly

Nice! Thanks for sharing. I love it when you can see the take!

Thanks for the report, sounds the reds are getting back to their summer habits! I fly fish from the kayak as well, talk about a challenge but an awesome time. PM sent

Nice report. Fly fishing is on my bucket list but it does not appear I’ll be kicking that bucket anytime soon.

Rod: Temple Fork BVK 8wt

Here’s the fly. For some reason it wouldn’t upload the first time:

White bucktail, copper flash, EP craft fur brush (Olive/Orange), Gold EP sparkle brush, home-made eyes

Also some silly legs in there as well

Fantastic looking fly! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks! Sounds like a finely honed setup for good sized reds.

Nice fish!! First thing I did was zoom in on the side of your hat, love that EP brush… You’ve really got your “backyard” dialed in

Awesome catch, I’m going to have to invest in a fly rod.
