Drum Fishing on the Broad ; Newbie

Hello everyone, I’m headed down mid September to do some fishing on the Broad or at the mouth of the sound pending wx conditions. My father is moving down to Okatie from Columbia so we thought we’d do alittle pregame fishing while we have the chance.

Hoping for some drum, but not hung up on that, just assumed it would be a more popular bite during our time down there.

Any tips for a soon to be new guy fishing the area? Probably putting in at 170 Bridge, comfortable running to the jettys if there’s a good bite there too, boat is a 22 ft bay.

Thanks for any info, looking forward to learning the waters.

I would put in at the sands in port royal. The ramp at the bridge has gotten sketchy. Big sandbar at the ramp. There’s no jetties it’s just a big open river. Weather permitting there should be plenty of bulls to pull on bottom fishing.

Thanks for the heads up, any good bait shops in the area? I’m guessing I can throw the cast net for some mullet, but was hoping to find some peelers or blue crabs for the drum (my drum experience comes from fishing up at the Cape Charles and Cape Henry Virginia)

Beaufort boat and dock supply,
