Moving to South Carolina

I have been informed that my job will be taking me to the South Carolina area. Looking for any information, suggestions or opinions on where the best place to depart to fish the offshore banks are. Also will not be bringing my boat, so what is the optimal boat that is used to fish offshore. Gents, any advice is much appreciated.

This is an interesting topic for me too. I decided to move to South Carolina and will officially be down there July 1st. Sold the house and the 32' Albemarle. Spent a lot of years fishing the North East Canyons looking forward to getting some experience down south. At the recommendation of a few friends and since my house is about a mile away from them I ordered a 28' Sea Fox. From everything I see their newer stuff is way better over the last few years and there is some serious bang for your buck on the boats. I test rode the 28 and the 32 and they really handle well and I think they are gonna build a 36 soon. Hopefully I can get some experienced captains down there to take fishing and pick their brains.
Where are yall coming from? If you dont know what "yall" means, and you think it's wrong to end a sentence with a preposition, stay there.

Coming from Long Island NY so no yall was previously not part of my vocabulary but I have sepnt the last few winters down there so I know enough to get along with yall and that saying bless your heart is enough reason for you to end up under my truck tires
Oh boy. You're fixin to be in trouble.
Bless y’alls hearts

thanks for the vote of confidence y'all. I think minus the accent I fit in better down south then up north then again Im getting to old to worry about the whole "fit in" thing just ask most my clothes. The sound of a 50 going off is the universal language

Doesn't matter how well you think you fit in or not because once a "native" knows you're a transplant, they won't let you forget it.

"...be a man and PM me."
Ouch, kinda like a kidney? Moving to the Charleston area not sure anyone there actually is a "native" anymore. Im up north in Moncks so a few more natives up that way but man been coming to SC for a lot of years and its changed a lot.
I will be moving from the San Diego area. Just glad to finally get out of here and back to the East Coast. Fished up and down the coast of Mexico and Panama for years. Retired from the Navy in 07 after 26 years and now work as a consultant and ran a 6 Passenger Charter Business for years. Most of the family lives Upstate in the Clemson area with a few living in Seneca. Glad to be closer to family. So I was figuring that y'all might be some help, but I reckon that I will only be blowing up a storm while everyone is pitching a fit. Murica!!!
