Trailer Bunk covers

We have a Key West 230BR on aluminum trailer.
Seems that the carpet on the bunks will not hold up even one year.

I have used the poly strips on smaller boats but am concerned about them “denting” the hull of this boat.

The rolls of plastic I see look too flimsy.

Seems some are saying to stay with carpet…SO… Is there a heavy duty carpet that won’t need replacing so often???

What works and last?

Use a piece of fire hose.

Fire hose is a neat idea… Tough stuff.

Words of wisdom from S man.
Hahaha. Hey that’s a great idea I never thought of that.

I am fragile. Not like a flower. But like a bomb.

22 life’s a day

I just grab one of the numerous rugs my wife has around our house. Stainless staples and you good.

The ENTER-NET Fisherman

Buy quality bunk carpet and MONEL staples, not stainless and it should last several years. Unless you just use your boat all the time. I have heard of using fire hose but it can be tough to find.

What is quality bunk carpet and where?

Where does one find monel staples?

DRMajor

A simple google will get you where you need to go.

Porkchop Express II

The last bunk carpet I bought was online and it was marine carpet, made for such applications. I bought Monel staples at Lowes. Of course like Porkchop said, Google is your friend.

Neither monel nor stainless like treated wood. So unless your using teak or cypress or something exotic, none of the staples last longer than a year or so. West marine or any trailer store carries marine grade carpet. :slightly_smiling_face:

Carpet isn’t the wife’s rug, but ill let you slide this time:slightly_smiling_face:

I’m not buying it either stump. I’m the most badass curmudgeon I know and even I don’t go around the house grabbing the old lady’s rugs and nailing them to my trailer.

Only carpet I know is Shag Carpet. Kinda picky about words aren’t ya? You kin to RBF?

The ENTER-NET Fisherman

Mighty big word "curmudgeon " coming out the country. Who helped you spell that?

The ENTER-NET Fisherman

Dam:face_with_head_bandage:… that’s a low blow. Just cause I called you out on your carpet doesn’t make me in any relation to that knucklehead. Don’t let it happen again or PeaPod may have to come see ya:sunglasses:

The common polypropylene carpet material that covers most trailer bunks serves two primary purposes: a smooth surface for the hull to slide on when launching and loading the boat, and protection for the hull and osculati macerator pump</font id=“black”> when the boat is supported by the trailer, in storage, or being towed.

googling mascerator pump.

on second glance, I think you’re a russian bot planted to track fred.
