Sunday Fishing

We dont usually fish on the weekends with all of the extra boat traffic …but decided to go Sunday.
Rolled into the folly ramp parking lot at 830…only 6 parking spaces left.
Wind blowing again and over cast…but I was determined we should make a go of it.
Found some bait alomg a mudd flat in about 5 foot of water…then hit one of my favorite drains for some minnows and finger mullet.
Gave a jump start to a dad and his two boys who had a dead battery…then it was time to fish.
Boats at a lot of the places we like…I guess it was clear they liked them too…one dock had 3 boats fishing at it…not much breathing room.for sure:smiley:
Moved on to some oyster beds nearby but wind was blowing hard up on it and the water was a muddy mess.
Headed to some back creeks and found clearer water, less wind…and lots of trout…with some really nice ones.
Donnie put the heat on me by catching 5 On a grub before I got my first real bite. (I tried mudd minnows, live shrimp and finger mullet on top and bottom)…i tried to act unconcerned…before I grudgingly switched to a grub also.
Hooked up quick and caught a few more until I snuck back to live bait and cork fishing.
Fish moved a lot so we did too…
Lots of passing boaters with Very little concern for people anchored or fishing…a pet peeve of mine…
Saw a couple of our local trawlers coming in…made me think of my daddy and his shrimping days…
Brought 2 trout home for dinner and 2 for a friend craving fresh fish:smiley:

Was so hard letting donnie outfish me…on purpose:smiley: lol
Everyday in the creek is a good day…and a blessing.

Little creek Shrimp and fish (redfish)gumbo for dinner
Fish and grits the next day

Beautiful! Don’t know which dish I’d dive into first.
Took my wife out yesterday and I’m pretty sure she outfished me - she generally does. Nice pics and report.

Thank you, Penny…nice report!!!

Great to see you posting and catching and making us all drool over those fantastic dishes!

How’s the back doing?

2 surgeries to try to repair the three Lower herniated discs and spinal shift…numerous interventions and treatments…a lot of heartbreak and depression…and 5 years later I Have learned to just live with it…do the best you can…pick your days wisely…“pay to play”… knowing it will be with pain…esp afterwards…but you cant just give up.
I have neuropathy in my right leg and foot… and fall sometimes …tell donnie im on the ground looking for something…lol…and now right finger tips go numb too…shoulder gives me a fit…but im still breathing…and blessed.
I dont take pain meds…refuse to take anything but alieve and asprin.
First 2 years I did nothing…nothing but cry over not being able to do what I once did so easily…and which I took for granted…and over thingsnincoukdnt control or fix…then I realized I couldnt let this suck me down the drain…so I pulled up my big girl pants and decided to just do what I could. Adapt.
I just turned 60…yes…60…so im just “marking time” as daddy would say …but arent we all…
Everyday is a blessing…
And i dont worry about dying…I worry about "“not living”.
Thanks for asking about me…sorry so long winded…
I too am glad to be back…as best I can😊
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving

Sorry to hear that it hasn’t healed, but glad to hear your positive outlook on life!

With all the medical leaps and bounds maybe they’ll come up with a permanent fix for you. They have me on some new arthritis medicine that has really helped with my back pain. I don’t do the pain meds either, just an aspirin. I still like to have a drink some evenings and that scares me about my liver and taking too many meds.

Hey Fred…can you pm me what you are taking for the arthritis…never know…sometimes meds can help for other things too…
One med that was nasty nasty to me was gabapentin…made me feel like poop and got to where I couldnt see.very well…all side effects of the med.

Happy Thanksgiving Y’all !!!

Nice report there, glad you are doing a little better.
I took that same medication you are talking about, that had me so messed up, I quit taking it. Was on celebrex[sp] not good either so I just quit it all and just live with the aches and pains. A little cbd helps .

Double D.

15 mg meloxicam. Once in the morning. I put in open incase anyone has any bad news about this. So far fantastic results for shoulder , hands and back.

They had me on celebrex , cymbalta, baclofen and several others also…all made me feel like poop…so like you…i just said no more.
Esp…to the pain meds.:face_with_spiral_eyes:

I

Oh…and btw…those crabs that once annoyed me trying to steal my bait when I was fishing…now get invited home for dinner. Lol

I hope you all had a Wonderful Thanksgiving!

It’s fantastic seeing Roo back in costume and on the water.

My wife takes Xeljanz for her RA … she loves the stuff, very few if any side effects. Hope your insurance will let you get it.

Very nice pen… Yeah I fish folly the most and it’s always tricky for me. I maybe need to start fishing the back rivers and find new spots and ways to fish while I am down…

Beautiful report and meals of delight. Stick with it and One day at a time. Be safe

Ms. Penny,

You should give these peeps directions on how to post pics on here. Yours are studio quality. I could use a lesson on how you do it and what camera you are using.

As far as pain relievers that are OTCs, I wouldn’t take aspirin AND Aleve… . one or the other. Try taking Naproxen instead. Cheaper and same as Aleve…IMO.

Consequences to getting old…I’ll take um.

Stay well sweet lady.

Thank you😁
I just take pics with my LG phone…lol…use to take my fancy camera with me…but dont have to worry about the phone as much.
Some pics come out too large to post…and dont know how to down size

Several ways to down size, the easiest I’ve found is to Email them to myself from my phone (i phone) and then it prompts me to select a size before sending. I select small and then when I open them from my PC I save to my desktop and add to post.
