Epic Trip to End 2020

Two buddies from Georgia joined me to fish the full moon this past week. I figured the trout would be deeper in this cooler weather. We started out with live shrimp under a slip cork. We were fishing jetty rocks in water about 15’ deep. We couldn’t get a shrimp down near the bottom because of the redfish and sheepshead. By noon, we had limits of red fish and 35 nice sheepshead…but NO trout. We took a break and ate ham sandwiches for lunch. I told the guys I didn’t pay .40 cents a piece for shrimp to feed redfish and sheepshead, so we all switched to my “Go To” bait…the Vudu Vixen by Egret Baits. Color didn’t matter. I found a break in the jetties in shallower water about 2’-4’ deep where water was moving through providing a little current with the rising tide. From 1:00 pm to about 4:00 pm, we caught a few more reds on plastic and our limit of 75 trout. My biggest trout was 25.5" long and weighed 6 lbs. The biggest 25 trout weighed 77 lbs. Overall, the sheepshead and reds weighed 206 lbs. The 75 trout weighed 168 lbs.
