Winter sheep, reds and trout

https://youtu.be/9O9BzPjjXqA

Got out Wednesday with Adam and Glenn. We started out fishing some docks on the ICW for reds but never found them. We did catch four trout before we made a move. We knew we could bend the rod with shrimp where we found some sheepshead last winter.

I think we caught about six or so of all three species. Maybe a few more than that.

Was a fun day. Link to the video is at the top for those interested.

Didn’t know what a nedrig was. Google…
Few different videos come up.

Addictive fishing is my favorite tv fishing show.
Met Blair at the ramp several years ago Tampa Bay. He was helping out a couple guys at the ramp. Rigged up a couple rods for them

Good information and always like your video gotta get some of those Ned Rigs

I’ve used them for Small mouth in Missouri last year but, honestly, to me, they don’t resemble anything so it’s hard to have any confidence in throwing them.

Having said that, Adam tore them up in the video before last using the Nedrig. I think he caught ten fish before I ever caught my first one throwing a slim swim z on a 3/16 oz jig head.

I’ll stock up on them I guess. I can see a real advantage to them in that once the little wire wears brought the bait, you can slightly turn it to re-rig it and get more use out of it than you can with a paddle tail type bait. I do fish paddle tail baits upside down once they get compromised by the jig head. They still have the same type action.

Thanks. Make sure you get the correct head that allows them to stand up. And really fish them super slow!

Kerry, that’s a nice video, and plenty of action for a winters day!

Were you using those jigs I had made for you? If so, how are they holding up?

BTW, I like the ned rig too, and had been tossing some cut senko and fat senko style baits. I’ve had the best action with them about 3 1/2" long for bass, but have cut 6" senko baits in half and used them 3" too.

I think the thinner profile sometimes gets more hits and so far the best has been a baby bass color or greenpumpkin with chartreuse tip. Of course I have some of the TRD’s too.

Yeah, we need to talk Jim. I gave half of those to a friend of mine who bass fishes from a kayak. And, I’ve got a couple of changes I want to make on my next order. If you still have my email, reach out. I’ll look for yours too. I went through all of mine last summer.

Sure, we can do that!

Love the videos Kerry. Just now posting to the forums for the first time. I have learned a ton from folks like you on the forum.

Thanks Adam. I see comments on sc fish tales and some on mine where people have been reading these forums for years and never joined. I’ve started several threads asking for information and always get good, solid advice.

These guys are knowledgeable and don’t mind sharing.

Hope to catch you out there again soon!
