Trout Love Sandbars

Every time I see a sandbar, I want to get out of the boat and wade fish it for trout. I’ve had the most success on points where current runs around/over the points. I like to cast into the current and work my bait back toward the sandbar. That’s just a personal preference. With all the good fishermen on this site, I’m reluctant to offer much fishing advice, as I feel like I should be getting advice instead of giving it. With that said, I’m always glad to answer any particular questions anyone may have about techniques, tackle, etc. that may be productive. I almost always throw a Vudu Vixen by Egret Baits. Color doesn’t seem to matter much, but I’m biased in favor of white with a chartreuse tail. I usually throw a 1/4 oz. jig head, but if the current is swift or the wind is an issue…OR on the occasions that I’m fishing deeper water, I’ll go to a 3/8 oz. jig head. I think it is really important to maintain a tight line so you can stay in touch with your bait, and sometimes a heavier jig head helps maintain contact. I’ve used these same baits and techniques with good success on the South Carolina coast, so don’t think it can’t be done where you are. I’ve done it on every coast I’ve fished. Trout are trout…and they don’t know one coast from another.
Some buddies from up near Santee came and fished with me recently. They picked up on wade fishing very quickly. One friend was even introduced to the “tax collector.” The young lady is a very good.

Ok ok ok… we get it man… the admin and site have gone to ****. Would you mind just making your own thread daily for your attempt at gaining the attention of the admin? I mean I’m not trying to knock what you’re trying to do, but maybe work it out a different way. This way is not working. I doubt the admin even read the comments.

Thanks for sharing the great life.

I’ll post up some pics of my drivers side window install on my truck after knocking it out with a well placed rock from a lawn mower…40 feet away.

22 life’s a day

mdaddy,

When you come back, if you get to choose, you need to set your sites a little higher. There are days when I come it with clean ice…not many days, but it does happen. When you get as old as I am, you’ll have figured out how not to waste time chasing uncooperative fish. One of the beauties of being retired is that I can go when conditions are good and all the stars are lined up just right. If I were not entertaining my kids and friends this weekend, I’d definitely be fishing Friday and Saturday. It could be a epic weekend.
