The treasure map

About five years ago a friend of mine sold his lot in park west which included a boat lift and a bay boat. Although he was an avid fisherman, he decided to let the boat go with the lot and he never bought another one.

I would pick his brain about how to catch redfish and trout. I had never caught either back then and was trying to figure it out.

Anyway, his 200 lb dog was bitten twice by a venomous snake while he and his wife were on vacation and he called me to see if I could find it and identify it for the vet so he could treat the dog with the correct Anti-venom. His dog sitter was trying to load this guy into a small SUV with the neighbor.

I found it under a kayak in his yard, got a pic for the vet and dispatched the snake.

For helping him out he gave me a very detailed map of his favorite spots to fish on the Wando. Very detailed, along with a bunch of zman swim baits and eyestrike jig heads.

I forgot I had this map until I was sorting through some old tackle and came across it a couple of months ago. I gave it to Adam to study and we decided once the weather warmed up we’d give those spots a try.

Last Wednesday we hit maybe half the spots on the map. We caught a few fish but the tide was mid to rising and not exactly optimal for finding redfish though we managed one early on.

We will definitely give it another go but as some of you know, that landing at Big Paradise can be tricky.

As per usual the video will be linked at the top for those interested.

Might as well try those spots every time you’re in the Wando. I would. Pretty sweet to have a hand written instructions like that laid out for ya, put it to good use, your friend would appreciate it. Good luck, looking forward to more Wando reports.:+1:
