I was able to hook and land this big red on a cut piece of menhaden. I was fishing the outdoing with a 1/2 oz bottom sweeper jig and fishing off the docks. This is the biggest redfish I’ve ever caught and it took me on a low country sleigh ride for quite sometimes. The day started slow but this really turned the day into a memorable one.
Thanks so much for the fine report and the great pictures. We here at Charleston Fishing really appreciate the work and time it takes to not only share your outdoor experience, but to also report and post the pictures of your adventure and we want to acknowledge that reports like yours help keep the lights on.
I am moving this to preferred status on the Home Page right now. Thanks again, and keep up the good work.
Catching a big red in a kayak is a great experience. I got towed a couple hundred yards years ago in Conch Creek reeling in a big red. That’s a whole nother kind of fun. Good post!
"Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It's Hand", but really, who cares?
I got lucky he ran away from the dock. I have another video coming up where one wrapped my rod around a piling on a big run and almost broke it. I just held on a for a while. That was on a medium light rod and I could barely move him.
