Bull Red on Menhaden

I was able to hook and land this big red on a cut piece of menhaden. I was fishing the outdoing with a 1/2 oz bottom sweeper jig and fishing off the docks. This is the biggest redfish I’ve ever caught and it took me on a low country sleigh ride for quite sometimes. The day started slow but this really turned the day into a memorable one.

Thank you for the kind words! I really appreciate that. There will be more coming over the next couple of weeks.

Great job! Pretty fish

Catching a big red in a kayak is a great experience. I got towed a couple hundred yards years ago in Conch Creek reeling in a big red. That’s a whole nother kind of fun. Good post!

I bet that was a lot of fun and def a good fish! Is that a stand up yak? How much fun is it to toss a cast net from that thing?

…well, some fishing too!

Thank you very much for reading and watching!

I got lucky he ran away from the dock. I have another video coming up where one wrapped my rod around a piling on a big run and almost broke it. I just held on a for a while. That was on a medium light rod and I could barely move him.

Yeah I can stand up in it but I am pretty big. I am 6’0 260 so throwing a cast net can be a lot of fun.

I can’t give enough props for that! Best Redfish video I’ve seen!
