Do y'all believe in a Chiropractor

To help you out with lower back pain?? Crazy question for CF, and I know our local Azz will be along to trash up the place.

Woke up Monday morning with it and every day since. Have been doing some lifting as some of you know about selling a piece of property in Bft. Not too bad, but too much I think.

Much worse after sitting, and that 6 hour round trip today.

With this said, more than a couple of folk’s have told me to go to a Chiropractor. I’ve never been to one.

I sure don’t wanna make things worse, but curious to what the GOOD folks on here happen to think about this…

At this point, thinking some muscle relaxers for a couple days or so.

Appreciate most replies!

I have never been myself but have several family / friends that have. They all say they work but only short term. One started out going twice a year now up to once a month or more.
Another after going a couple years dropped the Dr & got a sleep number bed. Said it helped them & hasn’t been back since.
I myself have shoulder & lower back issues from being stupid in my younger days. I use to go to regular Dr every year for muscle relaxers & anti inflammatory meds once it got so bad I couldn’t take it anymore. I finally broke down & got a sleep number about 8 yrs ago & love it. I have only had back issues a few times since but all times were from moving furniture.

If you hunt shunkeys like I do you must stay properly aligned been going once a week for about 4 years now. Did the stupid growing up stuff like dwi crashes, 3 totals, dang I loved that 73 Cuda, luckily never hurt anyone but me and telephone poles, did you know if you break them you buy them? So have terrible back and neck but getting aligned once a week is a must do for me. Don’t do drugs of any kind but love Coors light bar bottles. Insurance (Medicare) covers it right now, not the Coors the alignment. My 2 cents, awkward at first but stick with it. Best of luck!

“ RBF aka Shunkey, quite frankly you are full of schitt. In my opinion you are primarily to blame for the degradation of this particular fishing website. You dilute this place with your incessant desire to be relevant by posting constantly whatever cut and paste cartoon or quip you dig up only God knows where just to be "heard". It really must be miserable where you are, if not for you then for those around you.” EF 4/27/21

There seems to be 2 camps, the “I couldn’t live without them” (my sister) and, “they’re frauds, my back is worse than it was before”. Never been to one, never had a reason thank goodness. I am a huge acupuncture fan myself but, there are some that say it is a sham so…

"Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It's Hand", but really, who cares?

In my experience, Chiropractic works quite well! Been using them for years for back, and neck, ailments. Try an older practitioner, the younger ones I’ve tried, just don’t seem to do the trick. If you’re not hearing the cracking.
, and popping, not much good is being done. Just my .02…

I’ll chime in. Fractured my back in my youth and have been dealing with lower back pain ever since and worsening Rheumatoid arthritis. There is nothing a Chiropractor can do for a medical condition like this or bulged disks other than give you a “nice” massage. I’ve only been to one or two Chiropractors that will actually admit that they may be able to do nothing to help, but they would try. Most, IMO, pretend to be more trained in Back issues than an actual Doctor. Go get yourself an MRI and visit a true Medical Back specialist and let them access the real reason behind your pain. A good masseuse or Chiropractor might be what you need for pain management. I’ll still go to Eder Stuart in Walterboro from time to time for some heat/ massage therapy.

If you decide to get one and you haven’t met you deductable and it is sky high for one, check out MRI of Charleston. $340 cash for a quality image.

Wish you the best in this!

Disclaimer: I’ve never had major back issues. I go to a chiropractor twice a month and have for the last year and a half.

I think there’s a misconception with people about chiropractors. They aren’t miracle workers. The biggest benefit to chiropractic, in my opinion of course, is routine maintenance and manipulation on your spine without the use of drugs. Drugs don’t make your pain go away, it just hides it. No, they can’t work miracles if you’ve suffered a major injury your spine. What they can do, is keep your alignment proper and in working shape on a regular basis. You do routine maintenance on your car, don’t you? Why wouldn’t you want to take steps to ensure your body is kept up with. We started going about a year and a half ago. Katie had bad migraines and had tried other stuff and I told her I wanted to go with her, well because I’ve always enjoyed getting adjusted before but it had been a long time. I didn’t really think I needed it, but I’ll tell you this. Most people don’t know the type of lower back aches and pains they continually walk around with and deal with all the time, until they’re gone. My posture is better, my back pain is gone, and I sleep better and have better energy. And I’m someone that had no traditional “need” to go see a chiropractor before. And Katie went from migraines once a week to maybe having one every few months and they are less severe now. So with that alone, I’m very pleased with them and will be a lifelong patient.

In choosing a chiropractor, you want one that will take x-rays before they adjust you. We did x-rays before we started and after a year of chiropractic, and yes, you can see a noticeable difference. They are physically moving your spine and retraining your muscles to align properly. No wonder we both feel so much better.

If you are looking for instant relief and don’t want to go to the doctor, I would suggest an inversion table. 3 minutes in the morning and 5 minutes be

Huge fan of Chiropractic!
Also a fan of MAT - Muscle Activation Technique.
Most have never heard of it. Google is your friend.
Chiropractic works on the skeleton whereas MAT works on the muscles.

Start with a good deep tissue massage, or three to be honest. It sounds to me like you just over worked yourself and used some muscle groups you haven’t been used to using, and then sat on your arse in a stiff-back truck while a schittload of lactic acid built up.

It’s been 2 days, is it getting better? If so, and especially if it continues to improve over the next few days it’s likely muscular. If you are still “down” by the weekend it’s likely skeletal.

Could be your birth certificate or the bathroom scales working against you too.

I’m not a Dr., but I know stuff. Either way a good masseuse can put you on the path for a lot less money, of this I am certain.

Just my .02 cents

Thanks to All for the replies. Got to my Doc late this afternoon. Steroid shot, Anti inflammatory and muscle relaxer.

I’ve had this before, but it’s been quite awhile. I’m sure all the boxing and moving has played a part. Think a scan of some type will be in the near future. Depending on how this goes over the coming days.

LOL on the weight, EF. 5’ 9" and 198. Rest assured, I’m on the level, because the bubble is in the middle…

Will be asking around for local tips on a chiropractor.

When returning and grandson reaches out for you to hold him and can’t, ya know it’s hurting. Dammit!

Funny Edit; I reached out to a recent retired guy about a good massage for my back as he used to go to a local massage parlor. He said he has only had front done…he’s honest at least.

Thanks again

I was going to make a comment about the massage. But I figured I should leave that alone.
Just had a MRI of my neck and back. I have some issues that will eventually need addressed. But fortunately I don’t really have any back pain. Other than just regular old fart aches and pains.

You find things offensive. I find things funny. That's why I'm happier than you.

Haha, I knew all along the OP’s question was just a ruse and justification for getting a Rub and Tug…
