Wading Sullivan’s Island with soft plastics

https://youtu.be/4djphGJjNFg

Last Thursday Adam and I went to Sullivan’s Island about four hours before low tide to fish the jetties or “cobble”. The video is a video put together to help folks struggling with using artificial baits.

In that four hours we caught five redfish, two flounder, two trout and a nasty ribbon fish.
We were both throwing a 1/4 oz trout eye with a 3” zman swim bait. Adam was throwing a lighter color while I was sticking to my purple. I got outfished for my fourth video in a row. I guess I need to fall in love with a new color.

The full moon had the water pouring out of there at a pretty good rate. I’ve never seen low tide that low. The water color was really nice and clear pouring out of Breach Inlet.

Anyway, the video is linked at the top.

I, briefly, waded through your tutorial, and saw no mention of it being illegal to wade or swim, on the Sullivan’s Island side of Breech Inlet? Big ol’ sign, right there on the walkway to the beach, from the public parking lot.

Might want to add a disclaimer, or, just not encourage folks to break the law, let alone, drown in the treacherous currents?

If I missed your mentioning that, my apologies!

Good point! I know that Breach Inlet you can’t even wade but I’ve been checked by the DNR while wading Sullivan’s and plenty of people swim over to the breakers. Plus those kite skiers are thick on windy days.

I’ll check that out. Thanks.

Great video as usual. Next time I am in that area I will definitely have to give it a try.

Law against wade fishing?? How about surf guys, is standing in the surf fishing to be considered wading? Man I sure hope that isn’t a legal issue… I’m about tired of the gubment overreach

Good post man! Gotta shake things up from time to time, I went jack fishing Sunday to just do a little something different. Thanks for sharing your trip!

I looked it up on Sullivan’s Island website. They say they don’t have lifeguards our public bathrooms on the beach but nowhere, that I could find, did it say you couldn’t swim.
I tend to believe that only pertains to the inlet where the tides can get extremely bad. .002$
