rat control?

What do y’all use for rat/mouse control around the house?

I’ve always used the DCon bait trays with the blue-green pellets that make the bleed internally. Those work. But, I can’t find them anymore. And, every few years or so, we’d have a stupid rat that didn’t realize he was supposed to leave the attic before dying and I have to go dig through insulation and find/remove the stinking remains. Fun.

Bought/tried one of those shock boxes that is supposed to electrocute them. Quick, clean, easy… allegedly. But, that thing is more of a rat feeding station than trap. Rats apparently do like peanut butter. They clean the trap completely.

May resort to regular old spring traps.
Anyone know where you can get those old style bait trays? The ones with the bluegreen pellets? Arsenic, I think, maybe?

“ RBF aka Shunkey, quite frankly you are full of schitt. In my opinion you are primarily to blame for the degradation of this particular fishing website. You dilute this place with your incessant desire to be relevant by posting constantly whatever cut and paste cartoon or quip you dig up only God knows where just to be "heard". It really must be miserable where you are, if not for you then for those around you.” EF 4/27/21

Haha, when the hunter becomes the prey… The Shunkey always wins…

One common misconception is that mice and rats don’t have a bladder and that’s why they pizz constantly and leave little turds everywhere they go. Truth is the urine is used as communication and the droppings are a breadcrumb trail back to the nest, or to safety.

Another misconception is that mice and rats need to drink daily. Truth is only the rat needs to drink daily, while the mouse is opportunistic and will drink when he can, he can go long periods without water.

Don’t ask me how I know, I just know stuff. It’s what I do. For whatever reason the most obscure schitt sticks in my head. Anyway, rodent 101. There you have it

From my experience if you have a festering rodent population and the filthy vermin are destroying a place the best start is by picking out the fattest rat and start Shunning. Just look around, we had a real problem not that long ago, and now, well, I’ve only see a rat twice in the past couple of days. See, the rat needs to drink at least once a day, and the mouse is opportunistic.

Haha,

Poor ole lil EF’er… Sooo desperate for attention and acceptance… Tells people who they can, and can’t communicate with… Rather arrogant to say the least…

Will prolly blow a fuse again as usual, and go on another teenage girly TikTok rant… Guess s/he really just wants to be the CFC “influencer”, and it isn’t going well…

Most every fall we have a few mysteriously get in the house, best we have done is the old fashion spring traps that you cringe as you place them in the corner expecting them to go off. Peanut butter has been our best bait.

I’m with you on the poison and hidden stinking dead bodies that come from it. Not sure about the poison stuff you are talking about… Do you have an ACE hardware store near you? Those guys and girls are always helpful with various products…
