Attempting to buy a new truck in this current time....

Car dealerships are crooks.

That is all.

And to add to that…

Baker GMC in West Ashley is charging $5,000 OVER MSRP on the new trucks they are getting in. They are still advertising them at MSRP, but once you get there, the price goes up by $5,000.

VADEN OF BEAUFORT advertised a truck (Included the VIN), at one price. I called and verified the options and price. Then I drove to Beaufort to test drive it and they said that the price was $10,000 over the advertised price. And the store manager disagreed that it was false advertising…with a straight face.

Just saying, MOST, not all, car salesman and dealerships are CROOKS.

I’ll add that Rick Hendrick Chevrolet didn’t have the truck I wanted, but they were open and honest about what they were charging and why.

That’s all I’m asking for is honesty. You can tell me your truck is worth 10,000 more due to inventory shortages, that’s fine. I won’t buy it, but I support your right to sell your product at whatever price you choose. Just tell me the same number consistently and don’t make me drive an hour just to get me in the door at the hopes that I’m a sucker willing to buy your overpriced vehicle.

Try Marchant in Ravenel, Family in St.George.or there is a dealership in Statesboro (i believe),that has a good inventory.
Might wanna look at Fairey in Orangeburg.
Good luck with your adventures.

Double D.

I kinda went through the process as you about 2 weeks ago.
My wife’s car gave up the ghost and we looked around for 3 days. Finally went to Crews Chevy, found a used Honda CRV that she is happy with.
I think since electrical chips production is slow, the manufacturers have a hard time building vehicles.

23, all I can say is it is a sellers market right now. Dealers are buying back trucks at more than they sold for and then re-selling them for even more. Wife and I have decided on a new boat, but we both agree on giving it a year or two. I may be way off, but IMO as inflation is rising and all the covid stimulus money is petering out I believe things will turn to a buyers market for those that have splurged on toys and niceties and find they can not afford the payments. ? Time will tell.

Chin up Ricky! You’ll get your truck!!! Got a feeling there will be a glutton of “things” affordable soon for those that are debt free, or debt light.

Since you put this out for discussion…

I sold cars…and now you can have them delivered and avoid those nasty salesmen…at a price.

You are huckster to be fleeced when you walk on a lot.

I did it long enough to know I didn’t like it.

Your folks in “Rickyville” gonna need you to keep up services…garbage…police…fire…

They say you just want a new truck smell…or like your money… their services…

They sent me this:

Whats up with the truck restore??? “Rickyville” wants to know.

The ENTER-NET Fisherman

You think new is tough. try finding a used truck for around $30,000…
Walked away from one the other day that was on a lot because the jackass kept trying to shove financing down my throat.

LOL, yea them old boys love to push financing and I’ve found many won’t even talk numbers with you unless you want to give credit information… After you’ve already told them I’ll write you a check.

good Used Trucks are like finding hen’s teeth. Especially if looking for a diesel. Parts for em are getting rediculous as well. I went to our Local (Rizer) chevy dealer to stock up on some filters… Didn’t have any! It’s not their fault, but you still want to blame em. Over the last Month, I’ve had more issues getting parts than ever in my life. Don’t see it getting better. There are 56 container ships fully loaded that can’t get into port… Can you imagine all the varieties of product just sitting there.

Might even have a truck waiting out there for 23Sail.

Marchant in Ravenel was my first stop because:

  1. They are true locals.
  2. They are honest hardworking people that understand customer service.

Unfortunately Marchant only had two new trucks to choose from with no known new trucks coming in. The inventory throughout the country is extremely low for certain trucks/options/packages and of course I can’t want a basic package truck. I called around to probably 12 different places in SC, GA, and NC and even in Michigan. Trucks are cheaper in Michigan but they refused to sell out of state. When they said that, I replied with, “Isn’t that discrimination?” to which they said “yep” and promptly hung up on me.

Ended up with a truck from Lugoff, SC, which is east of Columbia. Told the salesman on the phone up front that I wouldn’t tolerate anything less than pure honesty. Give me your best price right now and I’ll buy it. He did. And it was $9,000 cheaper than the cheapest in Charleston. And they took my 7 year old Silverado with 170K miles as a trade with just pictures and descriptions over the phone. I had already gotten it checked out at Car Max and Lugoff gave me more for my trade in. Will they make money off of me? Yes, of course they will. Was it a fair deal for me too and am I happy with my decision? Yes. They delivered the new truck to my house and picked up my trade in less than thirty minutes. All of my negotiations were over the phone (still over 3 hours calling back and forth), but from my couch at home. I’m never going to perform a transaction at a dealership again; I can assure you of that. Lugoff GMC was great and I highly recommend them. Everyone was professional and held customer service highly. The dealerships here in Char

Haha, Lugoff… We call it Lugnut for the area’s population… Shoulda hit the Lugnut House of Pizza… Good eats…

Congrats on the new truck…

Just ordered a motherboard for my Powerball. They said 4 to 6 weeks. In the past anything that I needed from Powerball I’ve had it in 3 days.
Went by the Harley dealer to get a master cylinder rebuild kit. Same thing 6 weeks. Ordered it online. American made. Should have next Tuesday.

Slick ride.
Did the windows come tinted?

Double D.

Do I see Duramax in the pic? If you got the 3.0 liter diesel you will love it. My Uncle is getting 34-36 mpg highway and city and it runs stronger than the 5.3. vortex. Boss just got one in a Tahoe and it’s getting 26-28mpg and pulls the Horse Trailer like it’s not back there.

On a side note a buddy of mine that We’ve always been back and forth between Ford and Chevy gotta Dodge of all things. It is the best riding Truck I’ve ever been in, complete air ride suspension and a heck of a warranty.

Hope it gives you years of trouble free service.

Boy a nice HD orange pinstripe would good.

Or perhaps its a Georgia Bulldog footprint in red and black…lol.

Nice ride, Ricky!

NN

Man you cannot hide $$$$. Nice truck Ricky.

As for that Lugoff dealership, they’re good peeps. We bought our last Toyota there and they were straight up honest and easy to deal with. Though, I’ve bought my last new Toyota… a whole other story.

"Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It's Hand", but really, who cares?

Yessir, my first diesel truck. Its the 3.0L Duramax. I’ve had several 5.3L gas motors in 1/2 tons and they are fine, but this diesel is really nice. I plan to pull the boat with it this weekend, so that’ll be my first test. The biggest difference I saw between this motor and the 6.2L gas motor was that the diesel provides 460 ft-lbs at 1500 rpm. The 6.2L is 460 ft-lbs at 4100 rpm. That 6.2L has 420hp vs my diesel’s 277hp. So while my diesel won’t win any races, its got lots of low end torque that better suites me.

And I looked at the 2500s, but Good Lord the prices are outrageous and its not something I really need.

I looked hard for the AT4. There’s not a lot of them around and those that are around come with a hefty price tag. It has a factory 2" suspension lift on it for a more aggressive stance along with Rancho Monotube Shocks. Its certainly an off road truck, but rides and handles like a champ. I guess that’s why they’re so desirable.
