First Fish on MY Fly

I picked up a new 6wt yesterday from the Charleston Angler - a Lamson Radius reel and St. Croix Reign rod. Couldn’t wait to try it out, so bought a Dahlberg Diver and headed to a neighborhood pond near my house. Got a few casts in before the rain set in - had one blowup, but didn’t get a solid hookset.

Came home and sat down at the vice - tied up a few Dahlberg variations. Headed out this morning to try it again and landed a small bass on a Popper Bug right off the bat. Had a few other blowups and decided to switch over to a white/brown Dahlberg that I tied. First cast, a few twitches, and it got hit like a freight train. A brief moment later, I landed a 2 lb. bass - the first fish I’ve ever caught on my own tie. Unfortunately I didn’t get any pictures - my camera is spastic and decided it didn’t want to work this morning.

As if I wasn’t already, I am HOOKED! It’s a pretty incredible feeling catching a fish on something that I created. :sunglasses:

Congrats!!!

Congrats. Now next week we will go and get your first saltwater fish OTF!
